    The following organisations offer services to assist small business owners in Fiji.

    National Centre for Small and Micro Enterprise Development (NCSMED) is mandated under the Small and Micro-Enterprise Act 2002 to support, promote and build the capacity of SMEs to generate income, reduce poverty, improve livelihoods, create employment and contribute to Fiji’s economic growth.

    NCSMED’s business development support initiatives are centred on Business Incubators, Business Training, Business Mentoring, Business Cluster Development, Market Linkage and providing Access to Financial Services.

    NCSMED also manages the Northern Development Programme (NDP) through which it provides grant equity assistance and training to new and existing enterprises in Vanua Levu.

    NCSMED clients are from a variety of sectors and include tourism, agriculture, fishing, manufacturing, handicraft, creative arts and cultural industry. It also supports SMEs that provide auxiliary services to Fiji’s priority sectors such as tourism and export.

    Pacific Islands Private Sector Organisation (PIPSO)

    The Pacific Islands Private Sector Organisation (PIPSO) is the premier private sector representative body in the Pacific Islands region.   Its members are comprised of the national private sector organisations of the 14 Forum Pacific Island Countries.

    It is mandated to advocate the interests of the private sector at the regional level and participate and contribute to the policy development and strategies for private sector development. PIPSO works with regional organisations and donor agencies to strengthen the capacity of its members through advice, training, mentoring, technical support and funding to enable them to dialogue with their governments on a level playing field.
